Summary

This position is part of the IBC HRD Security and Drug and Alcohol Testing Div, Office of the Secretary of Interior, The incumbent will be responsible for processing Background Investigations and Personal Identification Verification (PIV) cards for contractors and federal employees and will provide support to personnel security specialists in the performance of assigned duties.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to problems or questions regarding the forms, paperwork, and processes associated with initiating background investigations.
  • Responsible for the initiation and completion of Personal Identification (PIV) for contractor and federal employees.
  • Ensures personnel security intake packages are complete and correct for contractor and federal employees.
  • Assists both personnel security specialists and supervisory personnel security specialists in the performance of their assigned duties.

    At theGS-07 grade level, you must meet one of the following qualifications:

    A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-6 level. Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience for this position includes but is not limited to assisting with security card enrollments, card activations, and card terminations; Initiating and reviewing background investigations for suitability and HSPD-12; providing advice and guidance to customers regarding security processes and researching and troubleshooting issues with automated personnel security systems; utilize personnel security tracking systems. OR

    B. A master’s or equivalent graduate degree; or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.B. or J.D., if related in one of the following fields Human Resources, Organizational Management, Criminal Justice, Liberal Arts (Psychology) or related field; OR

    C. A Combination of education and experience as list above
